Our Journey
My name is Peter Demopoulos and I am the founder of Amazoa Coffee. My journey began in the grocery store looking for unique coffee that was hard to find. One major problem that I noticed was that the coffee that I found in the stores would be cycled out too fast to try more. This prompted me to search for the best tasting coffee myself to solve this utterly disappointing experience.
My journey continued Costa Rica as I searched within dense forests for some of the best tasting coffee. After finding a few great tastes, I then travelled south near the Amazon basin to try coffee there as well. It has been a journey to remember as much of what I discovered was a consortium of flavors of coffee that I had never experienced before! This compelled me to bring the taste of these jungle javas to the States.
Our Passion
Amazoa Coffee Co is a Fair Trade coffee company. In short, this means that all coffee that we sell online or in our brick-and-mortar locations are purchased through a Co-op. A Co-op is an organization that works directly with the local coffee bean farmers of that region that produce amazing coffee. The Co-op helps the farmers by setting a fair price that allows the farmers to earn enough money to support their families through their hard work. Prior to Co-ops, coffee traders would approach farmers directly and pay them pennies for their product. This would result in larger profits for the corporation and barely enough money for the farmers to survive on. Our thought here is that the farmers that grow this great tasting coffee on their historic land should, at the very least, have enough money to support their family for years to come. #FairTrade
Our Commitment
We donate 1% back to the Co-ops in which we source our coffee. This will assist the co-ops with day-to-day operational expenses as well as for their growth to thrive as ours does.
